Our local area board embraces programs that focus on the economic needs of Local Workforce Investment Area

Youth Services

As regions around the country struggle with the implications of critical skills shortages and structural economic change in general, our local area board embraces programs that focus on the economic needs of Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA) 24,the areas geographic region includes Clinton, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington Counties.  As a result of the critical skills shortages, we are working with area providers that emphasize youth preparation for careers in high growth areas.
The MAWIB's mission is to enable WIOA eligible in-school youth, out-of-school youth and high school dropouts to acquire skills and work experiences necessary to successfully transition into adult careers, or further their education and training. The local board envisions a system that meets the needs of residents and businesses alike throughout its geographic region.
MAWIB recognize that many youth are faced with issues that could impact their employability, particularly those youth that reside in urban areas, as a result we have paid particular attention to those proposals that integrate soft skill activities into the program design.
